I’m a procrastinator… this is like an addiction that you have to fight one day at a time because if you let down your guard, it will drag you down again.
But last Friday something happened that changed the way I think about life and time. My neighbor’s 5 year old son was killed by a reckless driver right here in our own parking lot… it was his first day of school, he was still wearing his school’s uniform shirt.
A life ended in a split of a second and many lives were changed forever.
I couldn’t help to hold on tight to my own 2 children after this happened, thinking about how many times they crossed the same parking lot to go to the basketball court or swimming pool, how many times they walked to the side of the same parking lot to go to the park and play for a few hours.
My kids are older, 12 and 10, but still, they were exposed to the same dangers and then I thought, how many times have I told them: “not now, later”… I never thought about the possibility of “later” never coming.
Cherish every minute you spend with your loved ones, make the most of every moment, be thankful and enjoy your work, make sure that you tell your loved ones that you love them often, live your life with joy and be thankful for every new day.
Ask for forgiveness and forgive if you need to, let go your bitterness… it’s not worth it. Humble yourself, bury your pride, become a better person today.
This little boy may not be with us in the physical sense anymore, but his essence is still here, we remember him with joy, I can still “see” his smile and that makes me smile.
You should learn that lesson, live you life so when you are no longer here… you are remembered with joy and make others smile.
