I grew up watching TV commercials where we were recommended to brush our teeth with this or that toothpaste that contained fluoride. Fluoride is promoted as an ingredient that prevents tooth decay, it is said to help prevent cavities.
It is even added to water supplies and when I had kids of my own I realized that even bottled water marketed for baby consumption use fluoride as a selling point claiming that it’s needed to ensure that our babies have strong healthy teeth when they start teething. It must be safe then, right?
Not so fast! Why exactly is is then that when you read on the tube of a toothpaste it says “Use only a pea-sized amount… Warning! If accidentally swallowed, contact a Poison Control Center right away.”
Let’s start by finding out what exactly is fluoride.
Fluoride is actually a toxic waste product of aluminum and steel manufacturing… it is so poisonous that it rivals mercury for being one of the most poisonous substances on earth… What? Wait, this can’t be right!
According to the Physicians Desk Reference, “in hypersensitive individuals, fluorides occasionally cause skin eruptions such as atopic dermatitis, eczema, or urticaria. Gastric distress, headache, and weakness have also been reported. These hypersensitive reactions usually disappear promptly after discontinuation of the fluoride.”
That’s not all, studies have shown a link between a lot of diseases and fluoride, some of them are: headaches, bone cancer, osteoporosis, osteosclerois, spondylysis and goiter. And, you know what? Those studies have also shown that fluoride, has NO significant effect on tooth decay and cavity prevention.
What can you do to protect yourself from fluoride?
First – Switch to a toothpaste that contains NO fluoride, such as the Forever Bright Aloe Vera Toothgel, this gel is suitable for vegetarians since it contains no animal by-products. This toothgel has an Aloe base with natural peppermint and spearmint flavorings for a fresh and clean mouth.
Second - Pay attention to the water you drink and make sure that your bottled water does not contain fluoride as an additive, such as the Forever Natural Spring Water.
Now that you know all this… spread the word and let your family and friends know too!
